Just Announced - Sigma dp-2 Quattro

Sigma_Dp-2

It may look different, but the Sigma DP-2 Quattro is all about the sensor. Sporting a new 29MP Foveon X3 Quattro Cmos sensor, the DP-2 is capable of rendering a 39MP equivalent image hue, value, and chroma on each pixel rather than separate pixels.

With a fixed 30mm f2.8 lens, the Sigma DP-2 has a 45mm (35mm equiv) range after the 1.5x crop factor. This decently wide aperture will help the sensor acquire more light though I was hoping for a little better in a fixed prime lens. An ISO range of 100-6400 will compliment this and with a sensor size equal to the Nikon D7100, I fully expect great low light results.

Shutter speeds are limited at 1/2000 seconds and with only a 9pt AF system, no one will be overwhelmed. But the true strength of this camera lies under the lens with the Foveon sensor technology.
