Canon Announces a 16-35mm F/4 IS USM Lens
Canon has just announced a new 16-35mm F/4 IS USM Lens to compliment the existing 16-35mm f2.8 and 17-40mm f4 lenses. While the new Canon 16-35mm F4 IS is priced at a slightly high $1,199, the image stabilization is a great feature to have for me on wide angle lenses.
For me, IS on a wide angle allows me to take low ISO landscapes or interior shots that may have not been possible. For those wedding photographers who shoot interiors of churches on a weekly basis, IS on a wide angle may allow you to shoot at 1/5 of a second handheld leading to some great looking low ISO shots. Nightscapes may also be a great subject for this lens provided there are not many moving people in the shot.
Videographers will also likely be interested in this lens as shooting wider angle handheld or glidecam shots will surely look a ton better with a stabilized lens.
