I don’t think there was a single person that wasn’t taken completely by surprise as the Google Chromecastwas announced at the latest Google conference. We always knew that Google has wanted to create a product that connects to your TV, but both Google TV & The Nexus Q had issues that made them less than perfect. While the Nexus Q never even made it to market, several Google TV devices did. And while I happen to own one now, the high $300 entry price caused me to hold out till they hit the $100 mark. Fast forward a couple years and we now have a Google device priced at $35 that offers quite a lot of functionality for the price and even more promised for the future. While the price may be right, can Google really offer a product worth taking up a precious HDMI port? Let’s find out as we test the Chromecast out with the new Google Nexus 7.
