New Eye-Fi Mobi cards are out! - First Impressions

Eye-Fi-Mobi-Wifi

The new Eye Fi Mobi cards are out and I just received mine yesterday! I will be doing a review on the cards as well as some setup instructions so stay tuned to the website or keep an eye on our YouTube page. The Eye-Fi cards are currently available and on sale at Amazon.com.

I know there are many of you like me (or more like my wife) that pick up your cell phone to take pictures, just because they are convenient, you don't feel pressured to edit, and (most importantly) it can be quickly uploaded to Facebook, email, or other social places. As a result, our family memories are now recorded on $20 cameras inside our phones instead of using the $1000's of dollars many of us have in professional camera equipment. NO MORE!

The Eye-Fi setup was a piece of cake, seriously. Enter the app, type in the activation number, put the card in the DSLR, and hit enable...DONE! Depending on your camera depends on how you will set this up. I personally think the Eye-Fi works best for those with 2 card slots in their cameras such as the 5D Mark III & Nikon D7100 or D800. On these cameras, I set the main card to record full size raw images while medium size JPEG images are sent to the Eye-Fi card. This enables me to quickly upload images to facebook while ensuring that the full quality RAW files are still available for me to edit and archive later. This was my dream workflow and Eye-Fi just made it happen.

The app works for Android and Apple products, enables quick sharing, and works directly without a WiFi network so you can use it on the go. My daughter will no longer have to worry that her childhood images were taken on a crappy cell phone, all because I was too lazy to take them on my DSLR, upload them to the computer, process the RAW files, and then load them up to Facebook if I wanted. In this instant everything day and age, that workflow just doesn't work. But now with the Eye-Fi, I can eat my cake and have it too!
