Sigma 24mm f1.4 HSM Art Announced
Sigma has just announced a new 24mm f1.4 lens available in Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Sigma mounts with availability starting in mid march. As someone who use and love both Sigma's 35mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.4 lenses I am very excited about this new model. Previous Art lenses from Sigma have set a new standard for build quality, sharpness, focus speed, and have compared favorably or better to the best Canon & Nikon lenses. The new Sigma 24mm f1.4 is also priced at $849 which is less than half the price of the Canon and Nikon competition. Expect this lens to be extremely popular and likely sold out for months to come.

Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R Announced
In a different twist, Canon has released a new 5Ds and 5Ds R with a new 50.6MP Sensor (Apparently they didn't want to just round down to an even 50) with 1.3x and 1.6x sensor crop modes similar to the Nikon D810. Dual Digic 6 processors power the camera to ensure faster processing of the likely massive files at up to 5fps. I have previously taken issue with the high signal noise and lack of deep shadows from my Canon files compared to the Nikon D810 so hopefully Canon has improved overall the overall image sensor in addition to increasing the megapixels. The rest of the camera looks and feels almost identical to the current Canon 5D Mark III with a 61pt AF system that curiously lacks the new dual pixel technology from other new Canon cameras. Canon is also placing an emphasis on their new Anti-Flicker technology which reduces variations in image exposure due to flickering light like fluorescent lamps. Canon is clearly placing the 5Ds and 5Ds R (Lacking a LPF filter) for studio high resolution photo capture. The 5Ds is not set to ship until June at the moment and is priced at $3699 for the 5Ds and $3800 for the 5Ds R.

Canon T6s Announced
The Canon T6s appears to be a slightly upgraded version of the T6i and almost seems to fit in a similar segment to the Canon 70D. With a new 24MP APS-C sensor, the T6s contains a top LCD screen like the 70D as well as an articulating touch screen, dual pixel 19pt AF system and Wifi although now enhanced with NCF. The new Digic 6 sensor should also yield better JPEG performance, overall image quality and speed. The T6s is set for delivery in April with a body only price of $849 and $1199 with the 18-135mm kit lens.

Samsung NX500 Announced
Samsung has just announced a replacement for the NX300 in the new Samsung NX500 sporting the same sensor but a faster processor taken straight from the awesome Samsung NX1. With the new processor and new smaller, lighter design, the NX500 is set to bring the great image quality and 4k video from the NX1 to a portable design. Unfortunately this comes with the loss of a mic input unlike Canon's EOS M but similar to the Panasonic LX100 which to me is a must have on consumer video camera

Samsung NX1 Review
On paper, it’s hard to argue with the NX1. With a 28MP APS-C sensor, 15fps, 4k video, and 205 AF points, it really looks like a camera begging for attention. But Samsung is new to this market segment so there is plenty of room for skepticism. So for the past month I have been putting this camera to the test to see if it can really deliver on what I would call a stunning spec sheet for the asking price of $1500.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF7 Mirrorless Camera Announced
Panasonic has just taken a cue from the just released Fuji X-A2 and announced it's own upgrade with some selfie features. The new GF7 has a smaller micro 4/3 sensor packing 16MP and a new 3.0" Touch screen capable of 180 degrees of vertical rotation. The GF7 makes due with a more traditional 1080p video recording unlike the 4k recording of the LX100 though it does allow for interchangeable lenses including the 12-32mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens.
The GH7 is available for order now - $599:

Fujifilm X-A2 Mirrorless Camera Announced
The Fuji X-A2 brings a new swivel LCD screen to it's popular camera but leaves just about everything else unchanged. That said, if you like shooting selfies, maybe the X-A2 is just the camera for you as the new 175 degree rotating screen will allow you to do just that without the guesswork. The 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OIS II kit lens has also been given a minor update though without any changes to the focal length or aperture. While I was a big fan of the original X-A1, this minor refresh may not be quite enough to be worth the upgrade. But at $549 with the lens, this camera brings a ton of features and great quality to those awesome selfies you will now be able to take.
You can order it today or check out the older Fuji X-A1 at the discounted price while you can.

Nikon D5500 Announced
The Nikon D5500 is now here but it might not be quite the update you were looking for. When I reviewed the Nikon D5300, it was the best consumer DSLR around and apparently Nikon agrees as the biggest upgrade brings touch abilities to the screen. While Canon has had this feature for several years, this is the first Nikon touch screen DSLR which is a welcome change but likely not enough to make you want to upgrade. The good news is that now is a great time to snag the amazing Nikon D5300 on a huge sale as well. You can order the new Nikon D5500 body today for $899 or as a kit for with the lens for $999:

Panasonic LX100 Hands On Review
There is no question that the LX100 caused a bit of a stir when it was first announced with a slew of new features and technologies, especially for this form factor. With a small-ish body, a wide aperture f1.7-2.8 lens, and features such as 4k video, a multiaspect ratio sensor and up to 40fps with the electronic shutter. But even with all these features and technologies in playthe Panasonic LX100 deliver where it counts? Check out the full review past the break.
